One for All, All for One - Brussels to remain on high alert
Rethink the war on terror
The Islamic State, a Muslim group that formerly had ties to al Qaeda, has conquered large swathes of Iraq and Syria in 2014. Previously known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), the group has established a “caliphate” and has declared its leader, the Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, as the caliph.

Flush with cash and US weapons, the Islamic State’s expansion was quick and in the first week of August 2014 alone, Islamic State fighters took over over new areas in northern Iraq, encroaching on Kurdish territory and sending Christians and other minorities fleeing as reports of massacres emerged.

VICE News reporter Medyan Dairieh spent three weeks embedded with the Islamic State, gaining unprecedented access to the group in Iraq and Syria as the first and only journalist to document its inner workings.

The expansion of IS has been slowed down since, especially thanks to the Russian air support for Assad’s Syrian army, the Kurdish militia and Hezbollah, but they are far from defeated.

This report paints a good picture of where Muslim fundamentalists stand for. According to some, THE ideal society, according to others Hell.

Judge for yourself.
